Summer is here and it’s getting hot hot hot. Here’s what we have planned.

Friday, May 31

Focusing primarily on artists of the Southeast region, Piccolo Spoleto is the perfect complement to the international scope of Spoleto Festival USA, its parent festival. Its 700 events in 17 days transforms Charleston into an exhilarating celebration of performing, literary and visual arts. The festival runs through June 9 in various locations in downtown Charleston. Spoleto Festival USA, one of America’s major performing arts festivals is full of 17 days worth of events showcasing both established and emerging artists in more than 150 performances of opera, dance, theater, classical music and jazz. It was founded in 1977 by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Gian Carlo Menotti, who sought to establish a counterpart to the Festival dei Due Mondi (The Festival of Two Worlds) in Spoleto, Italy. Considered the world’s premier women’s golf championship, the U.S. Women’s Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA. It’s open to professional female golfers and amateur females with a Handicap Index® not exceeding 2.4. The event runs from June 1-2 at 1 Country Club Drive, James Island. The Floppin’ Flounder 5K is one of Charleston’s favorite races. Hosted by the Charleston Running Club, with help from the Fire and Rescue Department and presented by Fleet Feet Mount Pleasant/Fleet Feet Summerville, this race has had a loyal following for over 25 years! Don’t miss the Peyton Johnson Moore Award for the first boy and girl 12 and younger to finish the race thanks to Noah Moore. Finisher Medals for all participants. Don’t miss Yoga at the Square, a free yoga class every Saturday at beautiful Marion Square. Each month will feature a local yoga studio. Open to all levels. Yoga mats are available for use. Sunday, June 2

Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy live music while relaxing at Sunday Brunch in Hampton Park. Local food trucks will have delicious food available for purchase with coffee from Independent Grounds Coffee House and beer, wine and mimosas from MIX Bartending. No coolers or pets allowed. The event runs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m at Rose Pavilion, 30 Mary Murray Drive, Charleston. Advance tickets are $10. Tickets purchased at the door are $15.
