Family Fun: Weekend Events: Feb 9-11


We are so excited for the weekend because the Lowcountry Family Expo is almost here! More on that later. Don’t have plans yet? Well, now you do!

Friday, Feb. 9

Disney has come to Charleston once again. Enter a dazzling world of adventure at The Wonderful World of Disney On Ice. Join Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on an inspiring walk down memory lane in celebration of magic and family fun. Dory is back with friends Nemo and Marlin from Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory. Show times throughout the weekend are as follows: 7 p.m., Feb. 8 and 9, 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 10 and 1 p.m. Feb. 11 at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston. Tickets are $15-$60.

Saturday, Feb 10


We are SO excited for the Lowcountry Family Expo this Saturday, February 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Charleston Area Convention Center, 5000 Coliseum Drive, North Charleston. Admission is $5 and kids 12 and younger get in free. Here are just a few of our favorite new exhibits:

  • Carolina Studios is a school bus transformed into a mobile studio where kids can create their own music.
  • Game Play Express will set up an interactive video game booth where kids can engage in short quick play experiences that are versatile for all ages.
  • Glass Slipper Productions will grace the show with two fairy tale characters that will be available the entire expo.
  • Quiet Kingz will jump on stage three times throughout the day for 15 minutes silent discos that are sure to lighten up the crowd.

Sunday, Feb. 11

Bark for your beads as the Charleston Parks Conservancy hosts Pawdi Gras, a Bark Angel event for pets and their people in Hampton Park. The event is 2-5 p.m. Dress your pet (and yourself) in your best Mardi Gras-themed costumes for a chance to win a prize. Costume categories are best dressed puppy, best dressed senior and best dressed dog and human. Tickets are $10 each; beer, wine and food will be available for purchase. No outside coolers permitted. Dogs must be on a leash. Purchase tickets: Anyone who buys tickets in advance will be entered into a random drawing to receive one of 50 Mardi Gras-inspired prizes for their dog.
