No matter the temperature in Charleston, your events calendar should be heating up. Whether you’re looking for culture, outdoor fun or you just want to experience something new, we’ve got a lineup to get your family siked for the weekend.

Friday, April 13

Based on the acclaimed six time Oscar winning film, “Shakespeare in Love” tells the comedic story of a young playwright, named Will Shakespeare, who is desperate-he’s out of ideas and has creditors banging at his door. He must turn out a new hit to clear his debts, but the only idea he’s come up with lately is a new play he calls “Romeo and Ethel the Pirate’s Daughter” but that doesn’t seem quite right. He needs an inspiration, and destiny sends him Viola, a stunning beauty who is as in love with the theatre as he is- so much so that in an age when no women are allowed to perform onstage she is willing to disguise herself as a man in order to audition. Shows all weekend long starting at 7:30 p.m. Apr. 13, 7:30 p.m. Apr. 14 and 3:00 p.m. Apr. 15 at the Dock Street Theatre. Tickets are $29-$68. charlestonstage.com
