As summer settles on the South, bands from the Charleston area and throughout the state will perform monthly at the Mount Pleasant Pier at Shaggin’ on the Cooper. Spend summer nights on the pier with a date or head out to meet new friends, kick back and relax while taking in the fresh air and fun atmosphere. Don’t miss Motown: The Groove that Changed America. The Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO), with Music Director Charlton Singleton, returns to Kiawah Island to play the hits of MOTOWN. The label became an American icon that created a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence. Join the CJO as they celebrate MOTOWN and the unique rhythmic groove that changed America.
