The March issue of LCP is all about experiences, from day camps to family travels to couples’ getaways. Luckily, in the Lowcountry of South Carolina there is no shortage of experiences and this weekend is no exception.

Friday, March 2

If you’re a bookworm or you wish you were, we’ve got the event for you. And what better way to show the kids the importance of reading? Don’t miss the Charleston Friends of \the Library Spring Book Sale with more than 10,000 books, DVDs and CDs, and prices starting at $1 for paperbacks and $3 for hardback books. Items include mysteries, romances, classics, children’s books, local histories, cookbooks and a variety of non-fiction topics. Children’s books start at just 50 cents. The free event runs from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. March 2 and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 3 at the Otranto Regional Library, 2261 Otranto Road, North Charleston. charlestonlibraryfriends.org

The Artwalk is another great free event. Experience the Charleston Gallery Association Artwalk with over 40 art galleries participating, many offering free wine and snacks. The event runs from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Charleston. charlestongalleryassociation.com

Family fun is the name of the game on Isle of Palms at the Front Beach Fest. The City of Isle of Palms welcomes the spring season with a free street festival featuring fun for the whole family. The afternoon features live beach music from The Holiday Band followed by legendary artists The Tams. Kids of all ages can enjoy jump castles, a bungee trampoline, face painting, balloon artists and much more. The street will be filled with local arts and craft vendors and restaurants. Disney Live is also in town this weekend. Join Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and the comical duo of Donald and Goofy as 25 of your favorite characters surprise and captivate at every turn. See the Fairy Godmother transform Cinderella’s rags into a beautiful ball gown in a split second; the Toy Story gang defy the dimensions of Andy’s toy box with the help of the green army men and the spectacular stage debut of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as they rise into the sky amidst the floating lanterns. Sunday, March 4

Support the Charleston Parks Conservancy at their annual Teddy Bear Picnic! The free event includes musical entertainment, a teddy bear fashion show, face painting, seed planting, cookie decorating, crafts, games and so much more. Bring a picnic lunch, chairs, a blanket and enjoy an afternoon at Hampton Park from 1:30-4 p.m. charlestonparksconservancy.org
